About this photo
The Department of Home Affairs asks for an Australian Student Visa photo of 35 by 45 mm. Same ImmiAccount facial image rules as the generic visa: JPEG 70 KB to 3.5 MB, 1200 x 1600 px preferred. A photo taken at home with a phone is fine provided it meets these rules; ask someone else to take it at eye level. Frame it so the head takes 32 to 36 mm of the 45 mm height. The background must be plain light grey or cream or off-white, evenly lit and free of shadows. The upload for Department of Home Affairs online application needs to be at least 1200 by 1600 pixels, as a JPEG, no larger than 3.5 MB. Our service frames the Australian Student Visa photo to these measurements, cleans the background and checks it against the rules before any payment.
