About this photo

For an Australian Partner Visa photo, the Department of Home Affairs sets the print size at 35 x 45 mm. If you apply online (Department of Home Affairs online application), the file must be at least 1200 by 1600 pixels, as a JPEG, no larger than 3.5 MB. Use a plain light grey or cream or off-white background with nothing behind you and no shadow on the wall. Same ImmiAccount facial image rules as every Home Affairs visa; the sponsor may need a photo as well. Frame it so the head takes 32 to 36 mm of the 45 mm height. You can take it at home on a phone: have someone stand a couple of metres away at eye level rather than holding the phone yourself. We crop your picture to the Australian Partner Visa format, set the background and check the head size before you pay.
