About this photo

For an UK Seafarer Discharge Book photo, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency sets the print size at 35 x 45 mm. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency expects a photo of studio quality, so take it carefully: someone else holding the phone, daylight from the front, no selfie. Applications are made with printed photos, so you need a physical copy rather than an upload. Neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed, looking straight at the camera. The background must be plain white or light grey or off-white, evenly lit and free of shadows. Head height from chin to crown is 32 to 36 mm. Our service frames the UK Seafarer Discharge Book photo to these measurements, cleans the background and checks it against the rules before any payment.
