About this photo

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) asks for a RealMe Verified Identity photo of 35 by 45 mm. A live capture on your own phone, tablet or webcam, or a free photo at a RealMe partner store; no file upload or print is accepted. Head height from chin to crown is 32 to 36 mm. Applications are made with printed photos, so you need a physical copy rather than an upload. A white or light grey or off-white background is accepted, as long as it is uniform and without pattern. The Department of Internal Affairs takes your photo at the counter when you apply, so a photo of your own is usually not needed for this document. Upload your picture and we size it for the RealMe Verified Identity, replace the background and verify the proportions before checkout.
