About this photo

An Irish Driving Licence photo is not something you normally bring: the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) captures your photograph and signature electronically at the centre when you apply in person, and NDLS online applications reuse the photo on your Public Services Card. Where a print is still asked for, it is the standard 35 by 45 mm colour photo on a plain light background, head 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown, taken within the last six months, no filters or retouching. If your Public Services Card photo is over ten years old you renew the card first, and the MyWelfare renewal can ask for a recent digital photo. That is where our photo helps: we size it, set the background and check the framing before you pay, and it also covers the other documents that still take a print.
