About this photo

The French Passport, issued through the Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés (ANTS), has one rule that catches many people out: a white background is refused. Choose a plain light grey or light blue wall instead. The print is the standard 35 by 45 mm, with your face taking up 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown. You need a neutral expression, closed mouth and open eyes, facing the camera with no tilt. Glasses can stay on if the lenses are clear, the frames do not hide your eyes and there is no reflection. Make sure the photo was taken within the last six months.
