About this photo

The Canadian Work Permit photo accepted by the IRCC is a 35 by 45 mm portrait. Use a plain white background with nothing behind you and no shadow on the wall. A photo taken at home with a phone is fine provided it meets these rules; ask someone else to take it at eye level. Your head, chin to crown, should measure 31 to 36 mm on the print. Taken within the last 6 months. If you apply online (IRCC online application), the file must be at least 420 by 540 pixels, as a JPEG, no larger than 240 KB. From a phone picture we produce the Canadian Work Permit photo at this size and verify the framing against the IRCC rules.
