About this photo

A Canadian Passport photo is larger than most: 50 mm by 70 mm, with the face measuring 31 to 36 mm from chin to crown. The IRCC Passport Program accepts a digital photo when you renew online, and that file must be a JPEG of at least 1200 by 1800 pixels and no more than 5 MB. Paper applications still need prints from a commercial photographer, so check which route you are using before you start. Use a white or light-coloured background with uniform lighting, keep your mouth closed and your face squared to the camera, and make sure any glasses show your eyes clearly with no glare or tint.
