About this photo

The UK Visas and Immigration asks for an UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) photo of 35 by 45 mm. The background must be plain light grey or cream or white, evenly lit and free of shadows. If you apply online (GOV.UK ETA online application), the file must be at least 600 by 750 pixels, as a JPEG, no larger than 6 MB. A photo taken at home with a phone is fine provided it meets these rules; ask someone else to take it at eye level. Show head, shoulders and upper body. Frame it so the head takes 29 to 34 mm of the 45 mm height. From a phone picture we produce the UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) photo at this size and verify the framing against the UK Visas and Immigration rules.
