About this photo
Irish Passport Card photos are printed at 35 by 45 mm, the size the Department of Foreign Affairs (Passport Service) works with. No filters or digital changes. The background must be plain white or light grey or cream, evenly lit and free of shadows. Your head, chin to crown, should measure 20 to 25 mm on the print. You can take it at home on a phone: have someone stand a couple of metres away at eye level rather than holding the phone yourself. The upload for Passport Online (ireland.ie) needs to be at least 715 by 951 pixels, as a JPEG, no larger than 9 MB. Upload your picture and we size it for the Irish Passport Card, replace the background and verify the proportions before checkout.
