About this photo
For a MyKad photo, the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) sets the print size at 35 x 50 mm. Applicants attend the JPN counter where the photo and fingerprints are captured; dark clothing is advised. This one is still a paper process, which means printed photos and no online upload. Your head, chin to crown, should measure 35 to 40 mm on the print. Behind you: plain white, lit evenly so no shadow falls on the face or the wall. The Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara takes your photo at the counter when you apply, so a photo of your own is usually not needed for this document. We crop your picture to the MyKad format, set the background and check the head size before you pay.
