About this photo
For a Safe Pass Card photo, the SOLAS sets the print size at 35 x 45 mm. The background must be plain white or light grey or off-white, evenly lit and free of shadows. This one is still a paper process, which means printed photos and no online upload. Frame it so the head takes 32 to 36 mm of the 45 mm height. A photo taken at home with a phone is fine provided it meets these rules; ask someone else to take it at eye level. New and renewal cards use a photo taken at the training centre; a replacement card application needs a passport-style photo.
